Onboard a Squeezebox over Wi-Fi (ad-hoc)

This page is a placeholder. The procedure for onboarding a factory-state Squeezebox over its built-in ad-hoc Wi-Fi is being investigated as Task #34 in the project tracker. Real content will appear here once the investigation completes.

What we know so far

Squeezebox firmware exposes an ad-hoc Wi-Fi network when in factory state. Squeezeplay's reference setup applet associates with that network and runs UDAP discovery over Wi-Fi without needing Ethernet first. We expect go-udap to be able to do the same with --retries 2 (matching squeezeplay's hardcoded triple-send) once we've verified the ad-hoc SSID pattern, security model, and modern OS support.

In the meantime

Use wired Ethernet for initial onboarding — Configure a Squeezebox for DHCP then switch to Wi-Fi with Configure a Squeezebox for Wi-Fi with WPA2.
